以跨边界视角重新审视托马斯·齐彭代尔设计价值

摘 要:对托马斯·齐彭代尔的设计影响及价值进行分析和反思,重新认识托马斯·齐彭代尔的历史价值和启示意义,强调中西方设计“边界之间’的无限可能和巨大价值,以期给当下设计原创更多的鼓励和空间。以国内外有关著作和研究文献为基础,通过对托马斯·齐彭代尔相关的设计认识方式以及评价结论进行分析论证和比较研究。基于符号学和解构主义视角对托马斯·齐彭代尔设计价值的判断过分强调既有的文化边界,将其作品机械拆解为不同文化要素的拼凑和组装,从而漠视了托马斯·齐彭代尔设计创作的独立性、系统性和创新意义。值得被关注的是,在既有的文化边界基础上的再创作,探寻“边界之间”的无限可能性正是托马斯·齐彭代尔设计的价值所在,关注边界之间的价值,同时转变审视设计创新的认知方式,对当下设计探索与创新有着重要意义。

Abstract:It aims to analyze and reflect upon the influence and value of Thomas Chippendale’s design. Through analytic demonstration and comparative study of the cognitive style and evaluation related to Thomas Chippendale’s design, it concludes as follows: The Semiotics and Deconstructivism-based evaluation of the value of Thomas Chippendale’s design puts too much emphasis on the existing cultural boundary, mechanically decomposing his works into various cultural elements. Thomas Chippendale’s independent, systematic and creative way of designing is downplayed. It is worth noting that the value of Thomas Chippendale’s design lies precisely in the recreation on the basis of existing cultural boundaries to explore the infinite possibilities “between boundaries”. Therefore, it is of huge significance to pay attention to the value between boundaries and change the cognitive style of creative design.
